Tinnitus

Tinnitus is not a disease in and of itself. Just as fever or headache is a symptom of many different disease processes, tinnitus is a symptom common to many processes as well. Tinnitus can be a symptom to an underlying occurrence that is either physiological or psychological – or both. Accompanying symptoms often help to identify the cause of the tinnitus, thus can assist with its treatment. Methods of intervention include addressing the underlying disease process, targeting the cause(s) (if known) and/or manipulating the tinnitus sound directly. Each assessment and treatment plan is individualized. No two interventions are the same.
